US Chamber Agenda for America

With more than 23 million Americans unemployed, underemployed, or having given up looking for jobs, it’s time for the president and Congress to work together with the business community. It’s time to clear away government impediments and help the private sector grow the economy and create millions of new jobs without raising taxes or increasing the deficit. Here’s how.

  • Create 1 million new jobs by 2018 by allowing greater exploration of America’s vast oil and natural gas resources
  • Produce 20,000 well-paying jobs in the short term and thousands more over time by ultimately approving the Keystone XL pipeline
  • Generate up to 1.9 million new jobs and rebuild our nation’s infrastructure by passing long-term highway and aviation bills and leveraging private capital for infrastructure investment.

check mark Expand Trade and Tourism

  • Support millions of new American jobs by concluding new trade pacts with our Asian and European trading partners – as well as with emerging countries around the world – and lowering barriers to international investment.
  • Create 1.3 million new jobs promoting tourism and making it easier for foreign visitors to travel and spend money in the United States.

check markEnact Regulatory and Legal Reform

  • Save and Create hundreds of thousands of jobs by stopping the avalanche of new regulations and ridiculous lawsuits, reforming the rulemaking process, and speeding up permitting to get projects moving faster.

check markEncourage Innovation

  • Preserve 19 million jobs in IP-intensive industries by protecting America’s intellectual property from pirates and counterfeiters.
  • Fill 3.2 million vacant American jobs and bridge the “skills gap” by retraining American workers and reforming the visa program to attract the world’s best and brightest minds to this country.
  • Reform a globally uncompetitive tax code that is driving businesses, jobs, and investors away from the United States.

check markControl Government Spending and Reform Entitlements

  • Control deficits and the national debt this year to stop draining the economy of its productive capital.
  • Make needed adjustments to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security to save these programs and prevent them from consuming the entire budget.
